Yo Jem! And I thought it was only me who feels food has taken on a whole new decadence in pregnancy and beyond.
One question though - I bought a jar of articoke hearts because they looked really good in the store... and y'know, I too watch the Food Network... but no great insights into artichokes since my big purchase. What to do with them now??? Any tips on a recipe? Thanks!!
Oh hell yeah. Drain them and dice them up a little, and mix them with 1/2 cup mayo, 1/2 cup sour cream, 1 cup Parmesan cheese, a little onion if you want, some lemon juice, and salt and pepper. Put it in a little baking dish and bake for 20 minutes at 400'F. Oh my, scooped up on little pita chips or celery if you want to be (semi) healthy, this is a creamy heaven. It's just about my favorite thing to do with artichokes. Of course, appetizers are evil, as I've recently realized. :-)
ooooh, yum yum. that artichoke recipe sounds delicious. i'm going to try it. you know, i'm a food-addict too. my life revolves around reading food magazines, buying cook books, watching the food network, eating out, cooking, baking and eating in. i love to eat! so, it's very nice to meet you..and i look forward to following your blog...
I have to tell you, Jem, that your blog is having the opposite of its intended effect on me. Since reading your post about Ghirardelli (sp?) chocolates, I've already noticed them three times while out and about. So I took the third time as a sign that I should buy some.
That recipe for artichoke dip sounds so fantastic (and easy) that I may have to make it. I've always loved artichoke dip, but I always assumed it was too labour intensive for the likes of (read: lazy) me. So thanks! And my husband thanks you, too.
Gosh, our first actual recipe swap here at the BHN. We've reached a milestone!
Aw shucks, ladies, it ain't nothing. Thanks for the complements, though.
Doppel - I'm hoping as time goes on I'll be reporting more and more of my triumphs. So sorry about the Ghirardelli. But in this, I'm trying to start off small, so I don't fail too soon - that's always been my problem, trying too much too quickly.
