In the beginning...

I swore I'd write up A's birth story before she was a year old, and by golly, I have!

Melissa - reading this has brought back so many memories for me & inspired me to try to write down my own birth story while it's somewhat fresh in my mind. i know what you mean about giving yourself a hard time & second-guessing the choices you made while in labor. i totally freaked out while i was in labor saying things like " i want to die" etc. etc. i later felt really winmpy & embarrased about it. now, like you, i realize that i did my best & my baby was born healthy, so i'm okay about it.

For about 6 months (hell, let's be honest - to this day) I had to stop myself from telling complete stranger 'my story'. I felt everyone should know and everyone should learn from the hell I'd gone through -- if nothing else, to ensure no one went through the agony I did. One good thing though is that I was able to get all the notes from my midwives so was able to piece things together - don't know about you, but lots of it is still foggy for me. At one point in the notes, she write 'Anne-Marie expresses difficulty coping'. That's certainly one way to put it... ha.

Parting words - 17 days overdue is a LONG time, inductions cause mind-altering contractions FROM THE START and c-sections hurt like a bitch.

yeah yeah yeah... i got a cute kid outta this. Just wish the stork coulda dropped him off on the porch instead.
