LaFawnduh
JT and i finally got around to watching Napoleon Dynamite last night. The brother's love interest is a woman he met online that comes to visit. He's a very nerdy, skinny white guy, she's an African-American knock-out. The fall in true love but the kicker is her name is LaFawnduh.
Now that i'm in "cyberspace" more frequently i'm relating stories of things people have written or correspondences i've had with people online. I'm not quite sure how to introduce these vignettes, "my friend said..." is a little off and something like "on the message board i check this person i kind of know..." is a bit long. So JT's taken to calling all of you "LaFawnduh." Somehow it fits, so now it's established shorthand.

Glad something good has come out that dreadful movie! Maybe I just didn't get its humour but 2 hours of my life I'll never get back....

ha! my husband couldn't stand that movie either - I thought maybe he was just too British to appreciate it. because i loved it! especially the soundtrack, it took me back to my highschool days.

Oh, dear god, I have such violent feelings towards that movie. I was teaching 8th grade last year, and after hearing enough quotes from it, I had to see it. I lasted an hour, and looked at the DVD player and realized a whole freaking hour was left, and had to abandon it. One teacher I dislike has posters all over her room, and I just wanted to defile them somehow. I was about to tear hair out (mine or someone else's) every time I had to listen to "gawsh" being shouted down the halls!

My mind is full of quotes from 80s teen movies, and I have no desire to have that space in my brain replaced by quotes from a new teen movie, so I don't plan to see it.
I like the code word, though.

So I guess this isn't the place to confess I saw it in the theatre... twice.
I loooove being called "LaFawnduh"! Tamra, tell JT he just made my day.

Glad to hear that someone else liked it. We laughed out loud at so many places. I could see it getting annoying but i don't think we even know anyone else that saw it so we were fresh to it which probably helped!

Ok ok, I did laugh once... when they were watching the home movie and Napolean said, "this is the WORST movie ever."
Does anyone want the "Vote for Pedro" shirt that someone sent my husband Pete???

My favourite line:
"I caught you a delicious bass."
Last Valentine's Day, I designed a card for the mister with that line on it. Well, that and a bass.
Tamra, did you guys watch the epilogue that comes on after the end credits, of Chip and LaFawnduh's wedding? He sings her this song that he wrote himself. The words and melody still haunt me.
"Yes, I love technology,
But not more than you, I see,
But I still really love technology,
Always and forever,
Always and forever..."
Kris, if Pete doesn't like the "Vote for Pedro" shirt, perhaps he might prefer this one.
